Snug against the salary cap following a series of moves in the first 10 days of free agency, the New Orleans Saints restructured the contract of cornerback Keenan Lewis.
The minor adjustment guarantees Lewis an additional $10.4 million of his existing contract but creates no new money and the length of the deal remains the same.
Lewis’ 2015 cap number will drop from $4.85 million to $4.5 million, but his salary for the next two seasons are fully guaranteed.
New Orleans opened the 2015 league year with a bang, acquiring a first-round pick and center Max Unger for Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham in the opening minutes of the official signing period. The Saints kept dealing, shipping guard Ben Grubbs to the Chiefs and wide receiver Kenny Stills to the Dolphins for a third-round pick and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. The Chiefs will send the Saints a fifth-round pick.
In addition, New Orleans signed cornerback Brandon Browner and running back C.J. Spiller while re-signing running back Mark Ingram to a four-year, $16 million deal.
