Revis said at a press conference Monday he idolized cornerback Ty Law, who spent a decade with the Patriots. They were teammates in 2008 with the New York Jets.

Back in the AFC East, Revis will play twice against his former Jets after spending 2013 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, he said facing the Jets is not a motivational factor.

“I’m all about winning,” he said.

Revis’ agents, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, said the cornerback gets $12 million this year with a $20 million team option for 2015, according to the National Football Post. He received a $10 million signing bonus and $11.5 million overall is guaranteed. That includes a $1.5 million guaranteed base salary for this year.

In 2015, Revis gets a $12 million roster bonus and a nonguaranteed $7.5 million base salary.

The signing gives the Patriots the player they needed to replace Aqib Talib, who signed a six-year, $54 million deal with the Denver Broncos last Tuesday.

Revis was recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee when he joined the Buccaneers, who traded multiple draft picks to the Jets and gave him a six-year, $96 million contract. The structure of the deal — a series of one-year deals for $16 million per season with no signing bonus — made releasing him more palatable.

The Buccaneers traded a first-round pick and a conditional draft choice to the Jets for Revis. In his first season with the Buccaneers, he started all 16 games, recording 50 tackles, 11 pass breakups, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one sack.
