Greg Monroe and the Milwaukee Bucks agreed to a three-year, $50 million contract.

The third year in the deal is a player option, according to multiple reports.

Monroe returned to the Detroit Pistons as a restricted free agent last summer but was not engaged in talks to re-sign. Team president and head coach Stan Van Gundy said the team was moving toward a smaller lineup with center Andre Drummond entrenched in the middle.

Monroe averaged 15.9 points and 10.2 rebounds last season for the Pistons and gives the youthful Bucks a needed post presence.

Milwaukee and restricted free agent forward Khris Middleton, a former teammate of Monroe’s with the Pistons, agreed to a five-year, $70 million extension on Wednesday.

Middleton, a former second-round pick of the Detroit Pistons, has emerged as a major part of the Bucks’ lineup ever since the team acquired him from Detroit in July 2013.

Middleton, who is 6 feet 7, averaged 13.4 points and 4.4 rebounds last season while shooting 40.7 percent from 3-point range. He has increased his scoring since his rookie year from 6.1 points to 12.1 to 13.4 while offering great defense.
