Mike Dunn and the Miami Marlins avoided arbitration and agreed to a two-year, $5.8 million contract, according to a tweet from O’Connell Sports, which represents the 29-year-old left-handed reliever.

The Marlins subsequently confirmed that it reached a deal with Dunn.

Dunn went 10-6 with a 3.16 ERA last season. In six major league seasons with the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves and Marlins, he is 20-19 with a 3.36 ERA in 311 games, including going 18-19 with a 3.42 ERA in 282 outings in four years with Miami.

Dunn previously filed an arbitration request for a $2.6 million salary in 2015, while the Marlins countered with a bid of $2,355,000. He made $1.4 million last year.

The deal buys out Dunn’s two remaining years of arbitration eligibility.

Miami has one arbitration case remaining, with right-hander David Phelps, an offseason acquisition from the New York Yankees. Phelps is seeking a raise from $541,425 to $1,875,000, while the Marlins submitted an offer of $1.4 million.
