PLAYERS TO WATCH
–QB Sam Hartman passed for only 74 yards against Clemson, so he’ll aim to pick up the pace against Florida State. He had 12 consecutive completions in the Rice game prior to the matchup with Clemson, which limited the freshman to 7-for-20 passing.
–WR Greg Dortch has 101 career catches in 14 games. By doing that, the redshirt sophomore reached the 100-reception mark quicker than any player in program history. His 10 catches last year against Florida State are tied for his most against an ACC opponent.
–RB Cade Carney has dropped to sixth in ACC rushing with 74.3 yards per game. He’s coming off an 18-yard outing against Clemson, marking the second-lowest rushing total of the junior’s career. Last year, he missed the Florida State game with an injury.
–P Dom Maggio was called upon for 12 punts in the Clemson game. He also has been busy the past two years against Florida State, with six and seven boots, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY: Florida State leads Wake Forest 29-6-1, including six victories in a row in the series.
QUOTE TO NOTE: “A lot of it is younger guys that quite honestly I did not think would be playing for us this year, but we’re at a point injury-wise that they have to play.” — Coach Dave Clawson, though nine players on both offense and defense have started all six games this season.
