PLAYERS TO WATCH
–TE Zach Gentry came to Michigan as a quarterback in the 2015 recruiting class but was converted to his current position as a redshirt freshman. Now he’s the Wolverines’ leader in receptions (20) and receiving yards (306), both numbers better than he had all last season. “He’s progressing really well,” Harbaugh said. “Everything he’s done as a player has improved and developed.”
–Based on how the season has played out, DE Chase Winovich is due for a big game against Wisconsin. The senior had three tackles for loss in Michigan’s first, third and fifth games. With 38 career TFLs he is tied for 14th in school history.
–RB Karan Higdon has run for 100 or more yards in four consecutive games. The last Michigan player to do that was QB Denard Robinson, who had at least 100 rushing yards in the Wolverines’ first five games in 2009.
SERIES HISTORY: Michigan leads Wisconsin 50-15-1 but has lost three of the last four meetings. The Badgers scored a 24-10 home win last November, with Michigan winning 14-7 in the last game in Ann Arbor in 2016.
QUOTE TO NOTE: “My seven-year old daughter, Katie, who plays no sports, doesn’t want to play sports, doesn’t want to be involved in sports — she’s doing Girl Scouts — even Katie is saying the quarterback is doing well.” — Jim Harbaugh on Twitter criticism of QB Shea Patterson.
