PLAYERS TO WATCH
–RB AJ Dillon, a preseason All-American, rebounded from a tough week at Purdue to run for 161 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries in last week’s win over Temple. But he also rolled his left ankle and was forced to the sideline, where his ankle was heavily taped. He is fifth in the country with 130.4 rushing yards per game. Coach Steve Addazio was not able to offer an update on his star Monday.
–QB Anthony Brown, who became an instant star with five touchdown passes at Wake Forest, had a dreadful day at Purdue, going 13 of 27 for just 98 yards, with four interceptions and one touchdown. He wasn’t great against Temple, either, going 15 of 33 for 139 yards and two TDs. That’s 28 of 60 (only 47 percent) in the past two games.
–RB Ben Glines, a redshirt sophomore who was moved from wide receiver, ran for 120 yards on 23 carries in the win over Temple. The kid runs hard and has become a valuable part of this team’s rushing attack.
–DE Zach Allen had two sacks against Temple, moving him into a tie for ninth place on BC’s all-time list with 15.5. He had four tackles for loss and moved into a tie for sixth place on that list, with 33.
SERIES HISTORY: Boston College leads North Carolina State 9-6 and is 3-3 at Raleigh — 2-0 under coach Steve Addazio. N.C. State, also No. 23 when the teams met last season, won 17-14 at BC in 2017.
QUOTE TO NOTE: “I can remember talking to one of the pro coaches and them telling me that they really like him; they feel like he’ll be a good pro player. He’s a good quarterback. He’s accurate. He sees the field well; he throws it really well. He is maybe the best quarterback in the league. He’s certainly one of them. He’s experienced. He’s good.” — Coach Steve Addazio on N.C. State quarterback Ryan Finley.
