SERIES HISTORY: Utah trails Washington State 8-7 in the series that dates to 1966 but has been played five times since the Utes joined the Pac-12 in 2011. The Utes are 2-3 in those games, having lost the last three encounters, including 33-25 last year in Salt Lake City.
QUOTE TO NOTE: “I still feel really good about our team. I really believe in them. I believe in the offensive guys, I believe in the defensive guys, everything. We just have to find a way to put it all together, keep working and getting better. The South, I believe is wide-open. It’s a wide-open race. It certainly didn’t help our cause dropping a Pac-12 game but I think we’re still in good shape to contend. We will see what happens going forward.” — Utah coach Kyle Whittingham, after the Utes lost to Washington two weeks ago at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
