PLAYERS TO WATCH

–TE Foster Moreau is coming off his most productive game of the season. He caught four passes for 33 yards after catching just two passes through three games. The Tigers’ young wide receivers have been slow to demonstrate much consistency, so the senior tight end might be the target that Joe Burrow feels most comfortable with as the younger players grow into their roles.

–G Chasen Hines has performed well, especially for a true freshman, in relief of Garrett Brumfield, who left the Auburn game because of a shoulder injury before returning and then leaving the Louisiana Tech game because of a knee injury. With Brumfield out for this week’s game, Hines will get his first start.

–S John Battle is back after being suspended for the first half of the Louisiana Tech game because of a targeting foul a week earlier and being withheld by Orgeron in the second half. Battle is one of the more experienced players in a mostly youthful secondary and he’ll likely be eager to make amends as LSU faces Ole Miss’ prolific passing attack.

–LB Jacob Phillips, an understudy to Devin White, has emerged as one of the top playmakers on the Tigers’ defense. He had his first double-digit tackle game last week with 13 and he’s primed to have another big game as opponents understandably try to avoid White.

SERIES HISTORY: LSU leads Ole Miss 61-41-4 after winning the last two meetings and three of the last four. The Tigers prevailed 40-24 last season in Oxford, Miss.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “I like the transfer rules, and I think it’s good — when I get the good player. When I lose one, I don’t like it.” — LSU coach Ed Orgeron.
