Alex Smith – Noteworthy
QB Alex Smith suffered two broken bones in his leg in the third period after he was sacked by the Texans’ Kareem Jackson and J.J. Watt. As he rolled over, Smith’s ankle was dangling awkwardly. Smith was carted off the field. After the game, Washington head coach Jay Gruden confirmed Smith had broken his tibia and fibula and would need to have surgery immediately.Smith had completed 12 of 27 passes for 135 yards with two interceptions before being hurt. Joe Theismann, who was in attendance, broke his leg in a Monday night game on Nov. 18, 1985, against the New York Giants. Theismann, who was 35 at the time, never played again.
