Penn State player notes for Feb 22nd, 2019

George Campbell – Noteworthy
It appears as if Penn State’s receiver room is getting bigger and much older for the upcoming season. And it comes at the perfect time. Florida State fifth-year receiver George Campbell – a former five-star recruit – announced on Instagram that he intends to transfer to Penn State. If he earns his undergraduate degree this spring, as planned, he would be eligible to play in the 2019 season. Campbell is listed at 6-foot-4 and 207 pounds, making him the Nittany Lions’ largest receiver along with redshirt freshman Justin Shorter, who also is 6-4. Campbell will be the team’s most experienced pass-catcher, despite a rocky college career so far.

He was a special teams standout as a true freshman in 2015 and made three catches, according to his Florida State bio. But a hip injury ended his 2016 season before it started, forcing a redshirt. He re-aggravated the same injury, which ended his 2017 season with only six catches for 122 yards in four games, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. Last season he played in seven games with four receptions. He made his only start against Notre Dame. – York Daily Record
