Ole Miss player notes for Feb 23rd, 2019

Scottie Phillips – Noteworthy
New offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez comes to Ole Miss boasting an impressive history coaching the run game. In 16 seasons as a Division I head coach, Rodriguez led seven teams that finished among the top 10 teams in the country in rushing yards per game, and 13 that ranked in the top 25. Recent Ole Miss history has been dominated by pass-first offenses. The Rebels have led the SEC in passing yards per game four years in a row and have ranked in the top five in the conference in passing yardage every year since 2012. But with Phillips and Woullard returning, two scintillating freshmen coming in and Rodriguez’s history as a run-first coach, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Ole Miss spend more time on the ground than in the air this year. – Mississippi Press
