Oklahoma player notes for Mar 3rd, 2019

*Kyler Murray – Noteworthy
Before he even walked up to his assigned podium and leaned into the microphone situated in front of him, Kyler Murray had already created a buzz that had permeated throughout this entire city, if not just the Indiana Convention Center, the annual headquarters of the NFL Scouting Combine. You could feel it. You could taste it. And it was real. It’s amazing how just a couple of inches and an extra dozen pounds can flip the entire NFL on its ear and turn the combine into Murray’s personalized football Field of Dreams, a fantasy that’s now closer to a reality than ever before. As soon as they broke out the tape measure and he stepped onto a scale, the former Oklahoma quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner went from being the most intriguing prospect in this year’s draft to a very viable choice as the No. 1 overall pick. As quickly as the figures hit social media, Murray’s measurements seemed to immediately validate his legitimacy as the potential No. 1.

He’s 5-foot-10 and 1/8th of an inch tall, not 5-8 like many combine observers had feared. He checked in at 207 pounds, not closer to last season’s playing weight of 195 soaking wet. Those numbers really were the only thing keeping him from being recognized by the skeptics as a sure-fire, first-round pick. Not anymore. Come April 25, the first night of the draft, his name just might be announced as the first player selected overall. He could go to the Cardinals with the first pick to perhaps as low as 15th to Washington, but he’s a first-rounder now unless things go terribly wrong at his Pro Day at Oklahoma a week from Wednesday. – AZCentral.com
