Aaron Sanders – Noteworthy – Injury
WR Emmanuel Sanders sustained a torn Achilles tendon during practice the Broncos’ practice on Wednesday, multiple media outlets reported.
Sanders was helped to the locker room by trainers after falling to the ground on a pass play near the end of the open portion of practice. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Sanders leads the Broncos (6-6) with 71 receptions and 868 yards in 12 games this season. In addition to reeling in four touchdown passes, the 31-year-old also has rushed and thrown for a score in 2018.
Andre Holmes – Noteworthy
WR Andre Holmes was cut on Tuesday. He made 12 catches playing infrequently on offense, but he was one of the team’s core special teams players. He’s a free agent at the end of the season and did not factor into the future.
CJ Anderson – Noteworthy
RB C.J. Anderson is expected to sign a contract with the Oakland Raiders, according to a published report. ESPN’s Adam Schefter cited sources as saying that Anderson will be added to a backfield that consists of Doug Martin, Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington. Oakland saw workhorse back Marshawn Lynch placed on injured reserve on Oct. 22 with a groin injury. At the time, the 32-year-old Lynch led the Raiders with 376 yards rushing through six games and was averaging 4.2 yards per carry with three touchdowns. Anderson was released by the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 12, mere months after signing a one-year, $1.75 million contract.
J.T. Barrett IV – Noteworthy – Transaction
QB J.T. Barrett IV was released from the practice squad by the Saints Wednesday (Dec. 5).
Josh Hawkins – Noteworthy – Transaction
CB Josh Hawkins was released from the practice squad by the Chiefs Wednesday (Dec. 5).
Phillip Walker – Noteworthy – Transaction
QB Phillip Walker was released from the practice squad by the Colts Wednesday (Dec. 5). Walker, 5-11, 216 pounds, has spent a majority of the season on the Colts practice squad. He participated in the team’s 2018 offseason program and training camp before being waived on Sept. 1. Walker signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts on January 1, 2018. He spent the entire 2017 season on Indianapolis’ practice squad. Walker was originally signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017.
Simeon Thomas – Noteworthy – Transaction
CB Simeon Thomas was released from the practice squad by the Seahawks Wednesday (Dec. 5).
