New England Patriots player notes for Sep 18th, 2018


Josh Gordon – Important – Injury
WR Josh Gordon was acquired by the New England Patriots from the Cleveland Browns on Monday in exchange for a conditional 2019 fifth-round draft pick, the Browns announced on Monday.The Browns had announced on Saturday that they would release Gordon, but decided to trade him instead after learning of interest from other NFL teams. Gordon played in the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and had one reception for 17 yards and a touchdown. Gordon has missed a total of 54 games over the past four seasons due to multiple NFL suspensions.

Rob Gronkowski – Noteworthy
TE Rob Gronkowski had only two catches for 15 yards against the Jaguars, whose corners did a great job of covering him outside while the Jaguars athletic linebackers gave him limited space with which to work in the middle of the field.

Cordarrelle Patterson – Noteworthy
WR Cordarrelle Patterson has four receptions for 24 yards in two games and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is released when Julian Edelman returns in Week 5. He has two kickoff returns for 44 yards.

Jason McCourty – Noteworthy
CB Jason McCourty did an adequate job when he replaced Eric Rowe as No. 2 corner after it became clear that Rowe could not cover Jaguars WR Keelan Cole who finished with seven catches for 116 yards.

Patrick Chung – Noteworthy – Injury
S Patrick Chung left Sunday’s game with a concussion. He was not was seen in the locker room after the game and there was no update on his condition Monday.

Trey Flowers – Noteworthy – Injury
DE Trey Flowers left Sunday’s game with a concussion. He was not seen in the locker room after the game and there was no update on his condition Monday.
