Corliss Waitman – Noteworthy
Former South Alabama punter Corliss Waitman signed with Mississippi State on Wednesday as a graduate transfer. Waitman, who has one season of eligibility remaining, will be reunited in Starkville with former Jaguars head coach Joey Jones. USA’s head coach from 2009-17, Jones is entering his second season as the Bulldogs’ special teams coordinator. Waitman, a Milton, Fla., product, was a two-year starter at punter at South Alabama, and also handled kickoffs and held for extra points and field goals. He averaged a school-record 45.2 yards per punt in 2017 to earn All-Sun Belt Conference honors, and averaged 41.7 yards in 2018 (he averaged 42.7 yards on 158 career punts). – AL.com
