Cade Weldon – Noteworthy
QB Cade Weldon will miss the next three games while serving a suspension for “violation of team rules.” The suspension, announced this week, actually was for four games but it started with last week’s game against Florida State. “We have certain things and certain standards around here and if you don’t do what you’re supposed to do or how you’re supposed to do there will be consequences,” coach Mark Richt said. “But we love Cade.”
DeeJay Dallas – Noteworthy
RB DeeJay Dallas has the ability to give the running back a little spark when he comes in for starter Trevor Homer. He is second to Homer in rushing with 369 yards to Homer’s 434 and has rushed for two touchdowns. He also has six punt returns for 84 yards with a long return of 49 yards.
Gerald Willis III – Noteworthy
DT Gerald Willis III is the first recipient of the Outland Trophy Defensive Player of the Month after finishing September with 28 tackles (12.5 for losses, 2.0 sacks), breaking up a pass and forcing a fumble in five games. The Outland Trophy goes to the nation’s top interior lineman as determined by members of the Football Writers Association of America.
Jeff Thomas – Noteworthy
WR Jeff Thomas has become a big-play guy for the Hurricanes both as a receiver and a returner. His 32-yard catch against Florida State put Miami in position for a go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter, and he also had a 17-yard reception for a touchdown to bring the Hurricanes to within 27-21 in the third quarter. He has 16 catches for 396 yards and has a punt return of 48 yards and four kickoff runbacks for 152.
