Albert Wilson – Important
WR Albert Wilson was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after recording six catches for 155 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday’s 31-28 overtime victory over the Chicago Bears.
Andre Branch – Noteworthy – Injury
DE Andre Branch (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday. The Dolphins have been nearly crippled at defensive end this season. Branch’s return this week would at least provide depth.
Bobby McCain – Noteworthy – Injury
CB Bobby McCain, a starter, was limited in practice Wednesday due to a knee injury. McCain has missed the past two games and is questionable to play on Sunday.
Brock Osweiler – Noteworthy
QB Brock Osweiler will be under center for the Dolphins (4-2) in Sunday’s game versus the Lions (2-3) at Hard Rock Stadium. Osweiler started in place of Ryan Tannehill on Sunday and completed 28 of 44 passes for a career-high 380 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Cameron Wake – Noteworthy – Injury
DE Cam Wake was limited in practice on Wednesday. He has missed the past two weeks due to arthroscopic knee surgery and is questionable for Sunday.
Chase Allen – Noteworthy – Injury – Transaction
LB Chase Allen (foot) was placed on reserve/injured by the Dolphins Wednesday (Oct. 17). He is eligible to be designated for return and begin practicing after missing at least six weeks and can play after eight weeks. Allen played in five games with one start for the Dolphins this season and recorded three assisted tackles. He’s played in 21 career games with five starts and totaled 36 tackles (24 solo) since entering the league as an undrafted free agent with Miami on May 5, 2017.
Jake Brendel – Important – Injury – Transaction
C Jake Brendel was designated for return from reserve/injured by the Dolphins Wednesday (Oct. 17). He is eligible to be activated to play in two weeks, but can practice for a maximum of 21 days.
Jakeem Grant – Noteworthy
WR/RS Jakeem Grant is the first player in Dolphins history to score via punt return, kickoff return and reception in the same season.
He is also the second player in NFL history to have a 100-plus-yard kickoff return, 70-plus-yard punt return and a 50-plus-yard reception, all for scores, in the same season.
Jason Sanders – Noteworthy
K Jason Sanders is 6-for-6 on field goals in his rookie year, including a 47-yarder in overtime last Sunday to beat the Chicago Bears.
Matt Haack – Noteworthy
P Matt Haack ranks fifth in the NFL this year with 14 punts downed inside the 20.
Maurice Smith – Noteworthy – Transaction
S Maurice Smith was signed by the Dolphins Wednesday (Oct. 17). He had been waived by the Dolphins Monday. Smith has played in 10 career games, all with the Dolphins, since entering the NFL as an undrafted college free agent on May 5, 2017. In 2018, Smith played in four games with three solo tackles and one pass defensed after he was promoted from the practice squad on Sept. 18. During his career, Smith has totaled four solo stops and two passes defensed.
Mike Hull – Important – Injury – Transaction
LB Mike Hull was designated for return from reserve/injured by the Dolphins Wednesday (Oct. 17). He is eligible to be activated to play in two weeks, but can practice for a maximum of 21 days.
Ryan Tannehill – Noteworthy – Injury
QB Ryan Tannehill (shoulder) was limited in practice on Wednesday. He missed last week’s home game against the Chicago Bears.
Tannehill is expected to return this season, perhaps even this week. But exactly when he will be back is a mystery at the moment.
