Miami Dolphins player notes for Nov 28th, 2018


A.J. Derby – Noteworthy – Injury
TE A.J. Derby (foot, knee) missed last week’s game and is questionable for Sunday. Derby, a sixth-round pick by the Patriots in 2015, has played four games this season, none as a starter.

Danny Amendola – Noteworthy – Injury
WR Danny Amendola (knee) is questionable to play on Sunday. Amendola, 33, leads the Dolphins with 48 catches and 469 yards. But he has scored just once and is averaging only 9.8 yards per reception.

DeVante Parker – Noteworthy – Injury
WR DeVante Parker (shoulder) is expected to play on Sunday. The injury-plagued former first-round pick is having potentially his worst season as a pro with 17 catches for 235 yards and no touchdowns in six games.

Ja’Wuan James – Noteworthy – Injury
RT Ja’Wuan James (knee) was limited in practice on Wednesday but is expected to play on Sunday. James, 26, has started 10 games this season, which is his fifth year in the league.

Jakeem Grant – Noteworthy – Injury – Transaction
WR Jakeem Grant was placed on injured reserve. Grant, 26, was having a career year in his third NFL season. The former sixth-round pick out of Texas Tech scored four touchdowns this season – two as a receiver, one as a punt returner and one as a kickoff returner.

Kenyan Drake – Noteworthy – Injury
RB Kenyan Drake plans to play Sunday despite a sore shoulder that he landed on last week. He is second on the team with 409 rushing yards and second with 38 receptions.

Ted Larsen – Noteworthy – Injury
G Ted Larsen (neck) was limited in practice on Wednesday but is expected to play on Sunday. Larsen, 31, has managed to play 10 games, including eight as a starter.

*Isaiah Ford – Noteworthy – Transaction
WR Isaiah Ford was signed by the Dolphins from their practice squad Wednesday (Nov. 28). Ford was a seventh-round pick (237th overall) by Miami in the 2017 draft but missed the entire 2017 season after he was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 19. He’s spent the entire 2018 season on Miami’s practice squad.

Chris Lammons – Noteworthy – Transaction
S Chris Lammons was signed by the Dolphins to the practice squad Wednesday (Nov. 28). He had been released by the Saints from the practice squad Oct. 20.

Francis Owusu – Noteworthy – Transaction
WR Francis Owusu was signed by the Dolphins to their practice squad Wednesday (Nov. 28). He had been waived by the Dolphins Sept. 1.

Jakeem Grant – Important – Injury – Transaction
WR/RS Jakeem Grant (Achilles) was placed on reserve/injured by the Dolphins Wednesday (Nov. 28). While he would normally eligible to be designated for return and begin practicing after missing at least six weeks and playing in eight weeks, the first game he would be available would be the Super Bowl. Grant played in 10 games with two starts for the Dolphins this year and led the NFL with 535 kickoff return yards. He’s the only player in the NFL this season to have two kick return touchdowns – a punt return touchdown in Week 5 at Cincinnati and a kickoff return touchdown in Week 1 vs. Tennessee. Grant totaled 21 receptions for 268 yards (12.8 avg.) and two receiving touchdowns. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (186th overall) by Miami in the 2016 draft.
