Devin White – Noteworthy
The defensive linemen delivered as expected Sunday morning at the Combine but there were some terrific times turned in later in the day among the linebackers, as well. In fact, NFL Network’s Rich Eisen stated that three of the fastest times ever recorded by linebackers came today. Butkus-Award winning LSU linebacker Devin White narrowly beat out his namesake Devin Bush from Michigan, recording a 4.42 second time in the 40-yard dash moments after the Wolverines’ All-American dropped jaws with a 4.44 to top all linebackers in the Combine’s marquee event.
The exceptional 40-yard dash times came an hour or so after the linebackers competed in the vertical and broad jumps, where Bush recorded a staggering 40.5″ and White finished just behind at 39.5″ – again, rare numbers for linebackers. The explosive times and leaps jive with the tape on these two players, with each proving he possesses the straight-line speed considered critical for remaining on the field on all three downs in today’s pass-happy NFL — something begrudgingly acknowledged by Indianapolis Colts’ Pro Bowl tight end Eric Ebron. – Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
Foster Moreau – Noteworthy
Ten pass-catchers who boosted their stock at Combine not named Metcalf, Fant: Foster Moreau, TE, LSU – Characterized as a blue-collar, jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none-type throughout much of his career, Moreau was one of the big winners of Saturday’s workouts, finishing among position leaders in explosive tests like the 40-yard dash (4.66) and vertical jump (36.5″), as well as in the strength and endurance assessment (22 reps). Perhaps most surprising is the fact that Moreau led all tight ends in the short shuttle, posting a 4.11 second time that was seven hundredths of a second faster than any other tight end tested in 2019 and just a tenth slower than anything seen at the position in Indianapolis since the 4.01 former eight-year NFL veteran Tony Scheffler ran back in 2006. – Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
