Andre Nunez – Noteworthy
OCT 15 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLYER OF THE WEEK: Andre Nunez, Louisiana (Sr., QB, Pacoima, Calif.)…Louisiana senior quarterback Andre Nunez tied a school record for touchdown passes with five in the Cajuns’ 66-38 win over New Mexico State this past Saturday. The Pacoima, Calif. native also compiled a career-high 315 passing yards on 19-of-25 attempts. Nunez’s five scoring throws matched the program record set by Jake Delhomme in 1996.
Overall, he helped guide the Ragin’ Cajuns to a school record 759 yards of total offense, which was the third highest total by any FBS team this season. His career day made him the 34th quarterback in Louisiana history to throw for at least 300 yards in a game and the 315 passing yard total was the 22nd-best passing performance in school history. He finished with a passing efficiency of 247.8 against the Aggies, which was the second-best in the FBS this past weekend and the 10th-best by any quarterback this season. Elijah Mitchell – Noteworthy
OCT 8 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLYER OF THE WEEK: Elijah Mitchell, Louisiana (So., RB, Erath, La.)…Elijah Mitchell exploded for a career-high 191 rushing yards in Louisiana’s 42-27 win at Texas State, the most rushing yards by a Sun Belt Conference player this season. His 191-yard (20 att.) total stood as the seventh-best rushing performance across the entire nation for the week. The effort was the 14th-best rushing performance in Louisiana school history, tying Brian Mitchell’s 191 yards at Tulane on Nov. 1, 1986. The rushing total also ranked as the 22nd-highest total recorded on the ground by any FBS player so far this season. His 191 yards are also the most by a Louisiana running back since Alonzo Harris ran for 189 yards at Middle Tennessee on Oct. 29, 2011.
