*Hakeem Butler – Noteworthy
Hakeem Butler stepped up to the podium at the NFL Scouting Combine and chuckled when he was asked about the social media buzz regarding his size. “I don’t think there’s been enough buzz,” he said, “but we’re going to fix that soon.” The former Iowa State wide receiver held true to his word when he stepped on the field inside Lucas Oil Stadium for his skill tests this weekend. In what some considered his most drill, Butler passed the eye test by running a 4.48 40-yard dash officially, which puts him in the top third of the 48 wide receivers invited to the combine.
Given his status as the tallest wideout in Indianapolis – he also had the longest arms and wingspan – the Cyclones star had a lot to feel good about with his performance. “A lot of people want to see my 40, and that’s expected,” he said Friday. “You put me on tape and just see long legs eating up space. You don’t know how fast they’re moving. But if you put me next to a small guy, you’re going to see we’re moving at the same speed. I play fast and firmly believe I play fast. I’ve just got to show I can run fast on the track, I guess.” – Ames Tribune
