Iowa player notes for Feb 28th, 2019

*T.J. Hockenson – Noteworthy
Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn was a little more convincing Wednesday saying he’ll consider a tight end with the eighth pick in April’s NFL draft than he was earlier this month when he wouldn’t rule out taking a quarterback in Round 1. “If there’s a player that’s worthy of the eighth overall pick and he happens to be a tight end then I’m not against that,” Quinn said at the NFL scouting combine. “It’s kind of a little bit early in the process to say who that player may or may not be. But I don’t have any guidelines that I’ve ever developed over my years in scouting that say you can’t take a player at this position at that number.” The Lions had one of the least productive tight end groups in the NFL last season and have been mentioned frequently as a possible landing spot for Iowa’s T.J. Hockenson, who’s regarded as the most complete tight end in the draft. – Detroit Free Press
