Florida State player notes for Feb 25th, 2019

Wyatt Rector – Noteworthy
Florida State has added much-needed depth at quarterback with former Western Michigan quarterback Wyatt Rector announcing his decision to join the Seminoles. Rector posted on Twitter Sunday afternoon he is transferring to FSU. “Excited to announce that I will be continuing my football career at Florida State. Thank you to Florida State’s coaching staff for the opportunity,” the post read. Rector said in a phone interview with the Orlando Sentinel that he believes in FSU coach Willie Taggart and his process will get results in his second year as head coach.

“I feel like Taggart’s finally getting settled in and everything,” Rector said. “I feel like [former FSU coach] Jimbo Fisher didn’t really give him the best opportunity coming out for his first year. I kind of feel like he set him up for failure. I feel like [Taggart has] settled in right now with his coaching staff and he really, really believes in his coaching staff and strength and conditioning staff. I think the players are starting to buy in, too. I’m seeing videos and everything else and I’m really excited.” The former three-star recruit out of Leesburg High is enrolling at FSU and will be a preferred walk-on. Rector could earn a scholarship if his NCAA hardship waiver seeking immediate eligibility is approved. – The Orlando Sentinel
