T Andreas Knappe was signed by the Broncos to their practice squad Wednesday (Oct. 24). He had been waived from reserve/injured with an injury settlement by the Broncos Sept. 7.
Chad Kelly – Noteworthy – Transaction
QB Chad Kelly was released by the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, one day after the quarterback was arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass. Kelly appeared briefly in court Wednesday, and a court date was set for Nov. 8. Kelly has not yet been formally charged. Per a release from the Englewood (Colo.) Police Department, Kelly illegally entered a home on Tuesday morning and was later chased by the resident. Officers spotted a man matching the description from the homeowner and identified him as Kelly. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Arapahoe County Jail. “This was a decision that we made as an organization,” Broncos general manager John Elway said. “After reviewing all the information and in talking with Vance (Joseph, coach) and Joe (Ellis, CEO), we agreed that releasing Chad was the right thing to do. Even though Chad’s no longer part of our team, we’ve offered to help him however we can and are supportive of him in every possible way.”
Darian Stewart – Noteworthy – Injury
S Darian Stewart sat out practice this week with a neck stinger suffered in the Arizona win.
Dymonte Thomas – Noteworthy – Injury
S Dymonte Thomas practiced this week after a chest contusion suffered against the Rams on Oct. 14 kept him out for Week 7.
Emmanuel Sanders – Important
WR Emmanuel Sanders was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after reeling in six catches for 102 yards and a touchdown in a 45-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.
Nico Falah – Noteworthy – Injury – Transaction
C/G Nico Falah was signed off the New York Jets practice squad after G Ron Leary was placed on IR with a torn Achilles. Falah is dealing with a concussion and did not practice before Thursday.
Royce Freeman – Noteworthy – Injury
RB Royce Freeman is dealing with an ankle injury and did not practice Wednesday. He suffered the injury in the win at Arizona on Oct. 18 and spent the off weekend at the practice facility getting treatment. If he can’t play Sunday then Devontae Booker should get more reps behind Phillip Lindsay.
Shane Ray – Noteworthy – Injury
LB Shane Ray did not practice before Thursday because of ankle and wrist injuries suffered in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 14. His status for Sunday at Kansas City was not known mid-week.
