Cincinnati Bengals player notes for Sep 19th, 2018

*Joe Mixon – Noteworthy – Injury
RB Joe Mixon of the Bengals isn’t rushing his return from minor knee surgery.
Mixon underwent the procedure on Saturday, two days after suffering a slight meniscus tear in his right knee in Cincinnati’s victory over Baltimore. As for his return, Mixon is biding his time until he’s ready. “Just however comfortable I feel,” Mixon said on Wednesday. “As soon as I feel any type of comfortability, in terms of me going out there and able to run full speed and cut a dime, that’s definitely when I’ll be out there. And even if I did have a little pain, I’ll definitely still be out there at that point when I’m comfortable.”

Andy Dalton – Noteworthy
QB Andy Dalton, in 16 games under 16 games offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, Dalton has totaled 3,434 passing yards and 31 touchdowns against only nine interceptions.

Billy Price – Noteworthy – Injury
C Billy Price will sit out this week due to a sprained foot. The rookie was taken out in the first quarter and was in a walking boot.
On Wednesday, he said it’s not a Lisfranc fracture, which would likely end his season. Price will be in a walking boot for the next two weeks and then will be re-valuated.

Michael Johnson – Noteworthy – Injury
DE Michael Johnson (sprained knee) appears ahead of schedule but it’s unknown if he will play Week 3 at Carolina.
Johnson was limited to five snaps, was working out on a rehab field Monday but by Wednesday, he started practice working with the defensive line.

Preston Brown – Noteworthy – Injury
LB Preston Brown seems likely to return for Week 3 after missing the Ravens game because of an ankle injury sustained in the season-opening win at Indianapolis.
Brown practiced Monday and said if Week 2’s game was on a Sunday, he likely could have suited up.

Randy Bullock – Noteworthy
K Randy Bullock, dating to the 2016 season, is 24 for 26 on field goals. Bullock made 18 of 20 field goal attempts last season and is four for four so far this year.

Thomas Rawls – Noteworthy – Transaction
RB Thomas Rawls signed a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced Wednesday. An undrafted rookie in 2015, Rawls rushed for 830 yards and had a league-leading 5.6 yards per carry as a fill-in for injured Marshawn Lynch during his first season with the Seattle Seahawks. He then set a franchise playoff rookie record with 161 rushing yards against the Detroit Lions in the NFC wild-card game. The 5-foot-9 Rawls has been unable to stay healthy the last two seasons, however. He was expected to serve as the starter after Lynch departed, but Rawls started only 10 games in the following two years.

Thomas Rawls – Noteworthy – Transaction
RB Thomas Rawls, who most recently played with the Seattle Seahawks, was added to the backfield as a free agent on Wednesday.
Formerly a rising star, various injuries derailed his career and he was not on a roster in Week 1 after being cut by the Jets at the end of preseason. In 2015 with the Seahawks, he torched Cincinnati’s defense for 169 yards and a touchdown Rawls was signed because RB Tra Carson injured his hamstring Monday.

Trey Hopkins – Noteworthy
OL Trey Hopkins probably will be the starting center for the Bengals this week if Billy Price is unable to play. He spent the majority of last week’s game at center after Price exited with a foot injury.
Hopkins was the starting right guard last season, but lost his starting job in the preseason to Alex Richmond.
