Cincinnati Bengals player notes for Dec 28th, 2018


*Tyler Boyd – Important – Injury – Transaction
WR Tyler Boyd (knee) was placed on reserve/injured by the Bengals Friday (Dec. 28). Boyd, a third-year player, started the team’s first 14 games this season before suffering a knee injury in Game 14 vs. Oakland. He has 76 receptions for 1,028 yards (both team highs) and seven touchdowns. Boyd’s 1,000-yard season was the first of his career and the 27th in team history.

WR Tyler Boyd was among three players placed on injured reserve Friday. Boyd, who took over the No. 1 role at wide receiver after A.J. Green was injured earlier this season, finished with career highs across the board in his third NFL campaign. A second-round draft pick out of Pittsburgh in 2016, Boyd notched 76 receptions for 1,028 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games. He had 76 catches and three TDs in his first two seasons combined.

Dre Kirkpatrick – Noteworthy – Injury
CB Dre Kirkpatrick was among three players placed on injured reserve Friday. Kirkpatrick, who injured his shoulder in last week’s game against Cleveland, had 41 tackles and nine passes defensed in his seventh season since Cincinnati drafted him in the first round in 2012.

CB Dre Kirkpatrick (shoulder) was placed on reserve/injured by the Bengals Friday (Dec. 28). Kirkpatrick, a seventh-year player who has started 13 games this season, suffered a shoulder injury last week at Cleveland. He has 41 tackles (35 solos), and his nine passes defensed are second most on the team behind CB William Jackson (12).

Hunter Sharp – Noteworthy – Transaction
WR Hunter Sharp was signed by the Bengals from their practice squad Friday (Dec. 28). Sharp (5-11, 198), a first-year player out of the University of Utah, joined the Bengals as a free agent on Nov. 20. He entered the NFL as a college free-agent signee of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016, and has also spent time with Denver, the N.Y. Giants and Buffalo. Sharp has played in three career games, with one start, and has five catches for 54 yards and a TD.

Jordan Evans – Noteworthy – Injury
LB Jordan Evans was among three players placed on injured reserve Friday. An ankle injury sidelined Jordan for the last three games of the season. The second-year linebacker registered 59 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one interception in 14 games.

LB Jordan Evans (ankle) was placed on reserve/injured by the Bengals Friday (Dec. 28). Evans, a second-year player, has played in 14 games this season with five starts. He suffered an ankle injury in Game 14 vs. Oakland. Evans ranks fifth on the team with 59 total tackles (38 solos). He also has 1.5 sacks, one interception and three passes defensed, as well as two special teams tackles.

Kent Perkins – Noteworthy – Transaction
T Kent Perkins was signed by the Bengals from their practice squad Friday (Dec. 28). Perkins (6-5, 305), a first-year player out of the University of Texas, was originally a college free agent signee of the Bengals in 2017. After spending much of his rookie season on Cincinnati’s practice squad, Perkins was signed to the active roster late in the year and played in the season finale at Baltimore, where he saw brief time on offense. Perkins has spent the entire 2018 season on the Bengals’ practice squad.

Quinton Flowers – Noteworthy – Transaction
RB Quinton Flowers was signed by the Bengals from their practice squad Friday (Dec. 28). Flowers (5-10, 211), a rookie, joined the Bengals in May as a college free agent out of the University of South Florida. After an exemplary career as a quarterback at USF, he converted to running back as a pro and has spent the entire season on the Bengals’ practice squad. Flowers set 42 school records at USF, including school and American Athletic Conference records for total offense (11,802 yards), and he finished his college career as one of only four players in FBS history to post at least 8,000 passing yards and 3,500 rushing yards.
