Carolina Panthers player notes for Sep 24th, 2018


*Christian McCaffrey – Noteworthy
RB Christian McCaffrey ran for a career-high 184 yards in a 31-21 victory over the visiting Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. McCaffrey produced his first NFL career rushing total of more than 100 yards on 28 carries,
“(McCaffrey’s) ability to run the ball inside, he doesn’t get enough credit for it,” Carolina coach Ron Rivera said.

RB Christian McCaffrey’s career-high 184 yards rushing against Cincinnati was his first game with more than 100 yards. His previous high was 66 yards.

Cam Newton – Noteworthy
QB Cam Newton, who was 15-of-24 for 150 passing yards, won his seventh straight home start. He scored for touchdowns in a game for the 16th time.

Donte Jackson – Noteworthy
CB Donte Jackson recorded two interceptions against the Bengals, just one week after recording his first against Atlanta.

CB Donte Jackson had two interceptions in the Panthers’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Jackson, who nursed a groin injury during the week, now has three interceptions this season.

Efe Obada – Noteworthy
DE Efe Obada, a former practice player with the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints playing in the first NFL game of his career, had a sack and an interception for the Panthers against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Obada’s interception of Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton late in the third quarter set up a 5-yard scoring run by Cam Newton, putting the Panthers up 28-14.

Julius Peppers – Noteworthy
DE Julius Peppers isn’t getting down about his lackluster statistics to start the season. The 38-year-old Peppers, who is the oldest defensive player in the NFL, has recorded two tackles and no sacks while playing on only 45 snaps this season. Peppers will look to improve those numbers on Sunday when the Panthers (1-1) host the Cincinnati Bengals. “We’ll get there. I’m not worried about that at all,” Peppers said, via the team’s website. “Right now I’m worried about helping us get a win this week against Cincinnati. The accolades, all that personal stuff, that will take care of itself.”

Luke Kuechly – Noteworthy
LB Luke Kuechly moved into third all-time in Panthers franchise history with 839 tackles. Thomas Davis is the team’s all-time leader with 1,174 tackles, and Mike Minter is second with 953.
