Chris Ivory – Noteworthy
RB Chris Ivory has played a very limited role in the first two weeks, but he did score the Bills first touchdown of the season with a one-yard run in the third quarter Sunday against the Chargers.
Jerry Hughes – Noteworthy
DE Jerry Hughes had a solid game against the Chargers on Sunday as he recorded his first sack of the season, had three QB pressures, and also was in on six tackles playing 61 percent of the defensive snaps.
Josh Allen – Noteworthy
QB Josh Allen made his NFL starting debut and completed 18 of 33 passes for 245 yards with one TD and two interceptions. He was also sacked five times for 36 yards and had a QB rating of 63.3.
Kelvin Benjamin – Noteworthy
WR Kelvin Benjamin caught just two passes for 19 yards Sunday against the Chargers, the second being a three-yard TD reception in the final minute.
LeSean McCoy – Noteworthy – Injury
RB LeSean McCoy was held to 39 yards rushing, 27 coming on one play, before suffering cracked rib cartilage when teammate Ryan Groy fell on him. McCoy’s status for Week 3 in Minnesota will be evaluated later in the week.
Lorenzo Alexander – Noteworthy
LB Lorenzo Alexander was in on seven tackles, had a sack, two tackles for loss, and also broke up a pass while playing 56 percent of the defensive snaps Sunday against the Chargers.
Phillip Gaines – Noteworthy – Injury
CB Phillip Gaines suffered a dislocated elbow in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Chargers and could not finish the game. His status is unknown for this week.
Taiwan Jones – Noteworthy – Injury
RB Taiwan Jones suffered a bloody head injury against the Chargers on Sunday when his helmet came off and he was hit while trying to return a muffed punt out of the end zone.
Vontae Davis – Noteworthy
CB Vontae Davis pulled an absolute stunner as he quit on the team and retired at halftime. Davis was inactive for the Bills’ opener, but actually started in Week 2 against the Chargers. He was beat on Los Angeles’ first touchdown.

CB Vontae Davis was granted a roster exemption Monday (Sept. 17) in the wake of his retirement at halftime of Sunday’s game against the Chargers. The exemption was done with the designation left squad.
Vontae Davis – Noteworthy
CB Vontae Davis retreated to the locker room at halftime on Sunday and decided the time was right to announce his retirement. Yes, that’s right. Davis, who is a two-time Pro Bowl player, abruptly called it quits at halftime of Sunday’s 31-20 setback to the Los Angeles Chargers. “I shouldn’t be out there anymore,” the 30-year-old Davis said as part of a lengthy statement on social media.
Zay Jones – Noteworthy
WR Zay Jones caught a career-long 57-yard pass from Josh Allen Sunday against the Chargers, but had only one other reception for six yards.
