GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: As Virginia Tech has slid during the heart of the season, the Hokies’ rush defense has been to blame. Virginia Tech ranks just No. 84 in the FBS in defending the run, giving up 177.8 yards per game. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh ranks No. 20 in the nation in rushing offense at 230.8 yards a contest. If the Panthers want to keep the inside track to the ACC Coastal Division crown, they’ll have to take advantage of their edge on the ground.

DRAFT SLANT

–RB Qadree Ollison, a senior, has had an up-and-down year. Ollison has rushed for more than 100 yards in two of his last four games, while also being held to 50 or fewer yards over that same span. If the fringe prospect wants to garner legitimate NFL interest, he’ll need to provide a more consistent rate of production down the stretch.

ROSTER REPORT:

–RB V’Lique Carter is questionable with an undisclosed injury.

–RB Qadree Ollison ranks No. 11 on Pittsburgh’s all-time rushing list with 2,465 yards. He needs 179 to pass Curtis Martin and crack the top 10.
