GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Whether Boston College has RB AJ Dillon available or not, the Eagles will take aim to a Louisville defensive line that has looked porous this season. “Boston College is always a really physical team. They run the ball,” said Louisville coach Bobby Petrino. It will certainly be a different kind of physical and schematic challenge after playing Georgia Tech’s triple-option attack. The Cardinals rank 118th nationally in rushing defense, allowing 231.0 yards per game. Boston College averages 222.8 yards per game on the ground.

DRAFT SLANT

–WR Jaylen Smith was Louisville’s only preseason All-ACC talent. He returned to school for his senior season after receiving middle-round grades last season, but this season hasn’t started out like he had hoped. Smith has had several key drops, and Louisville’s offensive woes have cut into his reception numbers. He’s still a 6-foot-4, 225-pound physical specimen, but his draft stock hasn’t been helped thus far. He has 16 receptions for 266 yards in half a season; in 2017, he caught 60 passes for 980 yards.

ROSTER REPORT:

–QB Jordan Travis, a freshman, played in his second game last week, entering in the fourth quarter. He went 4 for 9 for 71 yards, also rushing for 48 yards on five carries.

–DE Jonathan Greenard is out after hand surgery.

–FB Tobias Little is out for the season with a knee injury suffered in fall camp.
