GAME BREAKDOWN
KEY MATCHUP: Nebraska is coming off a contest that saw the Cornhuskers tally just 111 rushing yards. Adrian Martinez’s 57 yards led Nebraska, while running back Devine Ozigbo was held to 29 yards on five carries. Northwestern is a top 50 rush defense in the FBS, ranking No. 46 by allowing 133 yards on the ground per game. If the Cornhuskers want to notch a mark in the win column, establishing tempo on the ground game and taking pressure off Martinez will be a vital step.
DRAFT SLANT
–WR Stanley Morgan has taken a backseat to J.D. Spielman over the last two games in terms of total production. But that hasn’t stymied Morgan’s efforts. He’s had at least three catches in every game and at least 61 receiving yards per game in 2018. The 6-foot-1 senior from New Orleans is still a viable draft prospect and is still looked upon as one of the most talented receivers in the Big Ten.
ROSTER REPORT:
–RB Greg Bell, who started three games this season, announced his transfer Monday night. Included among the schools denied permission to talk to Bell about a possible transfer were all Big Ten schools, all the nonconference teams Nebraska will face in the next three years, and Oregon State.
–WR Tyjon Lindsey, a highly-touted four-star recruit from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nev., also announced he will transfer.
