GAME BREAKDOWN
KEY MATCHUP: Baylor’s front seven versus Duke running back Pooka Williams Jr. The freshman Williams Jr. has surpassed 100 rushing yards in both of his college games so far (he sat out the Jayhawks’ season-opener versus Nicholls). He has to be salivating at the thought of playing Baylor, which has given up 181 rushing yards per game and 5.6 yards per carry against not-so-dynamic offenses. However, Baylor seems buoyed by the return of linebacker Clay Johnston the last two games. If Johnston and the Bears can slow down Williams Jr., it will give them a shot at stopping Kansas’s winning streak.
DRAFT SLANT
–WR Denzel Mims didn’t play versus Duke. Rhule said his hamstring tightened up during pre-game warm-ups and the Bears didn’t want to take a chance with their top play-making WR.
ROSTER REPORT:
–RB JaMycal Hasty will have to sit out the first half of the Kansas game due to an altercation versus TCU in the 2017 season finale.
–LB Clay Johnston missed the season-opener but returned to the field and made five tackles versus UTSA last week and followed that up by making 11 total tackles to lead the Bears against Duke.
–LT Josh Malin was helped off the field versus Abilene Christian with a knee injury. Malin has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and will miss at least four weeks.
