GAME BREAKDOWN
KEY MATCHUP: Oklahoma cornerbacks Parnell Motley and Tre Norwood vs. Baylor receivers Jalen Hurd and Denzel Mims. Hurd has hurt the Sooners before, rushing for 203 yards in two Oklahoma wins over Tennessee when Hurd was a Volunteer. But now, Hurd is a receiver for the Bears and teams up with Mims to give Baylor a big-time receiving duo. The Sooners struggled the last time they faced a pass-heavy offense with a big, physical receiver as Iowa State’s Hakeem Butler had five catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns in OU’s 37-27 win over the Cyclones earlier this month. Motley and Norwood will be under the gun to help hold Hurd and Mims in check.
DRAFT SLANT
–WR Marquise Brown is coming off a zero-catch performance last week against Army, his first time to be held without a catch since he didn’t play at Ohio State early in the 2017 season. Brown remains one of the top deep threats in college football, with 19 catches for 412 yards and three touchdowns so far as a junior.
ROSTER REPORT:
–CB/KR Tre Brown could return against Baylor after suffering an injury late in the week before the Army game that kept him out of action.
–DTs Marquise Overton (appendectomy) and Tyreece Lott (unspecified injury) are close to returning. Both played in the season opener but have been out since.
–RB Marcelias Sutton was held out against Army after suffering an ankle injury against Iowa State. Sutton returned briefly in that game and is expected to be available against Baylor.
