Strategy And Personnel

GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Louisville’s defense against quarterback Bryce Perkins. In Virginia’s first three games, Perkins has nine total touchdowns with seven of those coming through the air. Perkins’ speed also gives him the ability to pull the ball down and run as he has also rushed for two touchdowns. Louisville’s secondary has struggled at times this season and will be challenged by the Cavaliers’ speed on the edges. Look for Perkins to establish the running game with running back Jordan Ellis, before opening up the field and using his arm to create big plays for the Virginia offense.

DRAFT SLANT

–RB Jordan Ellis racked up 171 yards and three touchdowns on the ground against Ohio and now has 380 yards on the season. Ellis is averaging 7.5 yards per carry and has shown the ability to run up the middle as well and bounce plays to the outside and use his speed. After averaging under four yards per carry last season, Ellis needs just two more touchdowns to top his production from 2017.

ROSTER REPORT

–WR Olamide Zaccheaus needs 34 catches to break Virginia’s all-time receptions record set by Billy McMullen (210).

–OL Derek Devine, who has yet to earn a number in his freshman season, is now being listed second at LT on Virginia’s depth chart behind redshirt freshman Ryan Nelson.
