GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Connecticut vs. Syracuse is usually a good basketball matchup but this time they will play on the football field. Connecticut enters the game with one of the most porous defenses, ranking dead last among 130 FBS teams allowing 673.3 yards a game. This game is inviting to get Syracuse freshman backup QB Tommy DeVito more reps while starter Eric Dungey works his way back from a possible concussion against Florida State. Syracuse’s offense is formidable, ranked No. 33 averaging 485.7 yards a game.

DRAFT SLANT

–DT Chris Slayton, 6-foot-4 and 306 pounds, had one tackle for loss and two quarterback hurries against Florida State.

ROSTER REPORT:

–QB Eric Dungey left the game early last week against Florida State after suffering from “blurred vision,” according to coach Dino Babers. He should return Saturday against Connecticut, Babers said Monday.

–DE Jake Pickard, a fourth-year junior, has yet to play this season after undergoing knee surgery. He missed seven games last year because of injuries.

–LB Lakiem Williams has not played the last two games after getting two tackles against Western Michigan in the opener. He is out with an undisclosed injury and his availability Saturday is in doubt.
