GAME BREAKDOWN
KEY MATCHUP: Whenever you look as bad as Boston College looked at Purdue, the key matchup question for BC against Temple this week is the ability to bounce back. That starts with the offensive line leading the way for AJ Dillon and protecting Anthony Brown.
DRAFT SLANT
–DE Zach Allen continues to impress the pro scouts. NFLdraftscout.com has him rated as the No. 2 defensive end in the country. With All-American Harold Landry hurt for most of last season, Allen led the charge for the Eagles up front. Quoting the BC website: “Entering this season, Allen has been named a Preseason All-American by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports. He is on the watch list for the Bednarik Award, Ted Hendricks Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Wuerffel Trophy. In 2017, Allen led the Eagles’ pass rush with six sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss, which is tied for 10th most in a single season in program history.”
ROSTER REPORT:
–LB Connor Strachan, laid out by a questionable hit early in the game, registered a career-high 15 tackles in the win at Wake Forest and then had six tackles, four solo plus a sack, in the loss at Purdue.
–QB EJ Perry came off the bench and scored his first college rushing touchdown. He was 2-of-2 for 48 yards through the air.
–TE Tommy Sweeney caught three passes and took over ninth place on BC’s all-time receptions by a tight end with 75.
–WR CJ Lewis caught a career-high four passes for 65 yards at Purdue.
–WR/R Michael Walker ran up 213 yards of return yardage, tying the second-most single-game mark in school history. “Coach has been harping on that the past two weeks,” Walker said. “There’s definitely been a focus on kickoff returns and punt returns. We made an emphasis on that this week and it showed.”
