Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams will miss his second straight game due to a groin injury.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll on Wednesday declared Adams out for Sunday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The team has a bye the following week so the hope is the extra rest will heal Adams’ injury.

Adams has 23 tackles and two sacks in three games. The two-time Pro Bowl selection was acquired from the New York Jets in the offseason.

The Seahawks have struggled defensively despite adding Adams. Seattle is allowing 27.3 points per game and ranks last in the NFL in total defense (476.8 yards per game) and passing defense (401.0).

The Seahawks hope to get cornerback Quinton Dunbar (knee) back after he missed the last two games. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks (knee) will likely miss his second straight game.

Seattle also signed Damon “Snacks” Harrison to the practice squad. The 31-year-old Harrison has 485 tackles, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception in 117 NFL games (111 starts) with the New York Jets (2012-15), New York Giants (2016-18) and Detroit Lions (2018-19).
