The Oakland Raiders plan to host free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh next week, according to NFL Media’s Mike Silver.
Suh, who spent the first five years of his career in Detroit, is considered the top player in this year’s free-agent class and figures to command a contract worth $100 million.
The Raiders have been considered a top option for Suh because they have a lot of salary cap space ($57 million) and fit Suh’s preferred location on the West Coast. He is from Oregon and has said he would like to play near home.
The Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts also have been mentioned as favorites for Suh, who had 51 tackles and 8.5 sacks last season and has tallied 36 sacks since the Lions made him the second overall draft pick in 2010.
Teams may begin talking with free agents from other clubs on Saturday, so Suh likely will have his visits lined by the end of the weekend. Free agency begins Tuesday.
