The Oakland Raiders signed guard Richie Incognito to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Monday.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the NFL Network reported Incognito’s deal is worth $14 million — with $6.35 million guaranteed.
“To get Incognito for two more years is big for us,” Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Monday. “He’s a leader on this team, he’s an excellent player, he has a lot of life in his legs and his body. He has a passion to still keep going. We think he’s one of the best interior players in football.”
After sitting out the 2018 season, Incognito started 12 games for the Raiders in 2019. The 36-year-old missed the first two games of the season while serving an NFL-mandated suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy and missed the final two games because of an ankle injury.
Incognito, whose past includes a well-documented bullying incident with former Miami Dolphins teammate Jonathan Martin, has 12 seasons of NFL experience. He also missed the 2014 season.
A third-round draft pick in the 2005 by the then-St. Louis Rams, Incognito has played 162 games with the Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, Rams and Raiders.
