2016: Just when we thought Myers was an overblown former prospect, he jumped up with a surprisingly spectacular season. His .259 batting average wasn’t great, but his 28 stolen bases, a rare feat at first base, compensated nicely. FanGraphs’ end-of-season rankings had him as the No. 6 first baseman, just ahead of Anthony Rizzo.
Forecast: Myers kept elite company last year and gave his owners a sensational return on investment, but we’ll need to see it one more time before going all-in. Myers has had more than his share of injuries, a troubling trend for a young player, and it’s hard to know if his stolen-base binge is repeatable.
