The New York Mets officially placed second baseman Jeff McNeil on the injured list with a fractured right wrist and recalled outfielder DJ Stewart from Triple-A Syracuse.

McNeil, 32, was injured in the fifth inning of Friday night’s 6-4 win against the Cincinnati Reds. McNeil squared to bunt, and as he pulled his bat back, he was hit by a curveball thrown by Brandon Williamson.

He stayed in the game after being checked by a trainer and even completed a double play in the top half of the sixth inning, but he was pulled for a pinch hitter in the bottom half of the inning due to swelling in his wrist.

An MRI Saturday morning confirmed the fracture. He is expected to be out for the remainder of the season barring a deep playoff run by New York.

On the season, McNeil is batting .238 with 57 runs, 12 homers and 44 RBIs in 129 games. In 55 games since July 1, he hit .271 with eight home runs and 25 RBIs.

Stewart, 30, has played 72 games for the Mets this season, batting .175 with five home runs and 19 RBIs. In 325 career games over seven seasons for the Baltimore Orioles (2018-22) and Mets, Stewart is a .212 career hitter with 42 home runs and 118 RBIs.
