Oft-injured Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon is inactive again.

The team placed Rendon on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to July 27, because of lower back inflammation.

Rendon, 34, has only appeared in 33 games this season. He missed 2 1/2 months because of a hamstring sprain, returning in early July to play 14 games before sitting out Saturday and Sunday. He is eligible to return on Aug. 6.

He has no homers, six RBIs and a .227 batting average this year.

Since joining the Angels in December 2019 on a seven-year, $245 million deal, Rendon has never played more than 58 games in a season. After hitting .290 with 136 homers in 916 games for the Washington Nationals from 2013-19, he is batting .245 with 22 homers in 233 games for Los Angeles.

The Angels filled his roster spot by recalling Michael Stefanic from Triple-A Salt Lake. The 28-year-old infielder was batting .389 with two home runs and 33 RBIs with a .966 OPS in 40 games at Salt Lake. He went 6-for-31 (.194) with four RBIs in a 10-game major league stint with Los Angeles in June.

In other moves on Tuesday, the Angels obtained right-handed pitcher Mike Baumann from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for future considerations and traded reliever Luis Garcia to the Boston Red Sox for four prospects: infielder/outfielder Matthew Lugo, infielder Niko Kavadas and pitchers Ryan Zeferjahn and Yeferson Vargas.
