The Cincinnati Reds released catcher Miguel Olivo on Thursday.

The 34-year-old batted .222 with 12 homers and 29 RBI in 87 games for the Seattle Mariners in 2012. The Reds opted to go with Devin Mesoraco and Ryan Hanigan as the team’s catchers this season.

An MLB.com suggested that the Miami Marlins are interested in bringing in Olivo to back-up

starter Rob Brantly. He spent the 2006 and 2007 seasons with Florida, and started a total of 249 games during that period.
