Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman was struck in the face by a line drive by Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez on Wednesday, with the game between the two teams being cancelled in the bottom of the sixth inning because of the incident.

“Not good,” Cincinnati manager Bryan Price said. “He left the field on a stretcher, took a line drive just above his left eye is what it looks like — a contusion, a laceration, and certainly needs to be taken to the hospital and checked. We’ve got Tomas Vera, an assistant trainer, is going to be with him. And then we’ll get our updates from there.”

Chapman reportedly did not lose consciousness.

“The scariest thing I’ve ever seen,” Reds outfielder Jay Bruce said.

Fantasy Update: This injury will definitely push Chapman down draft boards so he may become a value pick if your league members think he will be out a while. Monitor his progress and bid accordingly.
