Yankees OF Stanton (biceps) on IL, out a few weeks

The New York Yankees placed slugger Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list Monday with a Grade 1 left biceps strain.

“He’s going to be shut down for 10 days, and then hopefully at that point starts his progression, and hopefully we get him back at some point this month,” manager Aaron Boone told reporters.

New York also placed third baseman Miguel Andujar on the injured list due to a right shoulder strain. The team said tests are pending.

As for Stanton, the 29-year-old outfielder was 2-for-8 and walked seven times in the season-opening three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

Boone said Stanton was hurt early in Sunday’s game on a “funky swing” and played through it, not telling the team until afterward.

“He just kind of grinded through the game, and then afterwards, when he felt like it was going to be a couple of days, that was kind of a red flag — just because knowing what he usually plays through — so he knew that right away,” Boone said.

Said Stanton: “I wasn’t sure if it was a cramp or something more significant. I just let a couple of more innings play out and go inside and swing a little bit and see if I could do it.”

Stanton said he has never had this sort of injury before, adding that it slows the quickness in the initial part of his swing.

“When you talk about quickness in your swing, you can’t really have too many things bringing that down,” he said. “You can battle through certain things, but not that type.”

Outfielder Clint Frazier and utility man Tyler Wade were recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Monday’s game against the Detroit Tigers to fill the roster openings.

“I plan on him playing quite a bit,” Boone said of Frazier.

Stanton, a four-time All-Star and the 2017 National League MVP with the Miami Marlins, batted .266 with 38 homers and 100 RBIs in 158 games in his first season with the Yankees in 2018.

Andujar, 24, was injured while diving back to third base during Sunday’s game with the Orioles. He was the runner-up for American League Rookie of the Year honors last season, when he batted .297 with 27 homers and 92 RBIs. Andujar is 3-for-13 with one RBI this season.

Frazier, 24, was the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft by the Cleveland Indians. He batted .265 with one RBI in 15 games with New York last season.

Wade, 24, batted .167 with one homer and five RBIs in 36 games with the Yankees last season.
