Wake Forest: No fans for opener vs. No. 1 Clemson

Wake Forest will not have fans at home football games in September, including the season opener Sept. 12 against No. 1 Clemson.

The Demon Deacons are barring spectators for home fall sports events for at least September. Wake Forest is scheduled to play only one game at Truist Field in this month — the nationally televised date with the top-ranked Tigers.

Duke barred spectators indefinitely from football games while North Carolina and North Carolina State aren’t allowing fans at fall sporting events through September.

The NFL’s Carolina Panthers are opening the season Sept. 13 with no fans at the game in Charlotte against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Clemson approved fans for its home football games at Memorial Stadium up to 25 percent capacity.
