Minnesota Vikings safety Jayron Kearse was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of driving while impaired and carrying a firearm without a permit.
Kearse, 25, was being held without bail at Hennepin County Jail.
Per multiple reports, Kearse drove his Mercedes around a construction barricade onto a closed portion of Interstate 94 in Minneapolis.
A state trooper observed signs of alcohol impairment during his interaction with Kearse, who reportedly registered a blood alcohol concentration of .10.
Per reports, the arresting officer located a loaded firearm inside Kearse’s vehicle.
“We are aware of Jayron’s arrest and are gathering additional information at this time,” the Vikings said in a statement.
Kearse has recorded 17 tackles in eight games this season with the Vikings, his fourth year in the NFL. A seventh-round pick in 2016, he has 68 tackles in 55 career games.
