Minnesota Vikings rookie Troy Dye, who was set to make his first start at linebacker this weekend, was put on injured reserve with a foot sprain on Thursday, the team announced.
The Vikings (0-2) signed former Denver Broncos linebacker Todd Davis, who is expected to see immediate action Sunday versus the visiting Tennessee Titans (2-0).
Dye, a fourth-round pick out of Oregon in this years’ draft, was slated to get the start in place of Anthony Barr. Barr was put on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle. Dye played 34 snaps on special teams in two games this season, and 21 on defense.
Davis, 28, was cut by Denver earlier this month in a cap move.
Davis played in 82 games (63 starts) for the Broncos, culminating with a career-high 134 tackles last season in 14 games. Davis played in three games with the New Orleans Saints in 2014.
