Two more Spartans enter NCAA transfer portal

Two more Michigan State players entered the NCAA transfer portal Friday.

Shortly after offensive lineman Devontae Dobbs announced he was entering the portal Friday morning, his high school teammate from Belleville, Mich., cornerback Davion Williams, announced he would also enter the portal.

Dobbs, a former four-star prospect, played in four games as a freshman in 2019 but did not play this season for undisclosed reasons. Dobbs’ entrance into the portal means the Spartans’ three highest-rated recruits from 2019 — along with cornerback/wide receiver Julian Barnett and linebacker Luke Fulton — are looking to leave East Lansing.

Williams played mostly on special teams in all eight Spartans games as a sophomore in 2020. He recorded eight tackles.

Spartans running back Anthony Williams Jr., linebackers Charles Willekes and Marcel Lewis and punter Jack Bouwmeester are also in the portal.

MSU, which finished 2-5 under first-year coach Mel Tucker, has been active adding players through the portal as well. The Spartans have added quarterback Anthony Russo from Temple and running back Harold Joiner from Auburn.
